On day three of the Vuelta the riders got a relatively easy stage. It went from Vigo to Mirador de Lobeira. Chris Horner showed himself as the best on a short climb. Styby, who knew an unlucky day, finished 146th.
“Today was not my lucky day”, says Zdenek. “We went for the stage win with Gianni Meersman, and thus was Guillaume Van Keirsbulck early put to work. He rode really strong. Chapeau! He has shown that he really has a lot in it!”
Just before the final it went wrong for Zdenek. “I think I crashed at about 40 kilometers from the finish. Nothing serious, though. The peloton tore some distance away by the wind and so it was difficult to come back. Eventually the group where I sat in it succeeded.”
“I moved on the front to help Meersman, but then hit a second time to fate: a flat tire. Well, tomorrow is a new day”, concluded our Czech.
