OPQS starts Wallonie with second place

One month after the national championship Zdenek made his comeback in the Tour de Wallonie. In the first stage, he helped teammate Gianni Meersman to a second place. “It was very close. Tomorrow we’ll try again.”

“It was the first time that I could wear the Czech national jersey on the road. It was very nice, but it was a little weird to get back after been out of competition for so long. The second part of my season has really started today. Hopefully I can improve day by day.”

Today’s stage had to end in a sprint for Omega Pharma-Quick Step. “It was hard to put it all together because there were a lot of attacks. Five kilometers from the end we succeeded and it came to a sprint. Gianni was unfortunately beaten by Jens Debusschere in the last ten meters.”
