Zdenek became ninth in the third stage of the Tour de l’Eurométropole. Just like the past two days it ended up in a sprint. This time it was Arnaud Démare who was the fastest, but the Dutchman Theo Bos.
“The wind made it very hard today”, Styby says. “And because of that it was very nervous all day. Everyone knew it would turn out in achellons. Of course, we of Omega Pharma-Quick Step, were very active in that. We split the bunch.”
But they wouldn’t catch the breakaway. “That was what they said in the car. But we did catch them back. We went for the sprint for Andrew Fenn, but we didn’t manage to get organized in the last kilometer. In was in front so I tried my best and became 9th. Tomorrow it’s the last stage.”
