The season will start for real this weekend. Saturday there is the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and on Sunday it’s time for Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne. “Finally! I look forward to long.”
“After the Volta ao Algarve I flew to Mallorca. There I could relax, but I also had good trainings on the climbs. On Wednesday I had a good training together with Petr Vakoc and Tony Martin. On Thursday I flew to Belgium.”
And today, on Friday, our champion rode the last 60 kilometers of the Omloop. “It’s a race that suits me. There are many cobbles. The last part is very flat. I never raced at Kuurne before, but I know that it is a race more for sprinters.”
“My condition is good and also my teammates are. So we can start with ambition. Tomorrow we will have several leaders, especially Tom Boonen, Niki Terpstra, Matteo Trentin and myself. We’ll see how it goes, but we only go for the win. A second place is a disappointment.”
