Zdenek has become third in the third stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. In the stage to Arezzo our Czech was beaten by Greg Van Avermaet and Peter Sagan. “I made a mistake in the sprint, but I have to be happy with this third place.”
“Yesterday was a short stage, but today it was a long one of 203 kilometers. It went fast, because after seven riders rode away in the beginning and took 15 minutes lead, the Tinkoff-Saxo Team started to pull very fast.”
And that was necessary. “It was not easy, but fortunately, everything came back together again. In the final we had to do six local laps. I liked the finish a lot and the team was working for me. They brought me perfectly.”
“Mark Renshaw was amazing to place me perfect. Now I understand why he is the last man of the fastest man of the world. In the sprint itself I made a mistake and that cost me a better place. But oké, I must be happy with the third place and the condition.”
“Movistar didn’t do anything today, just like yesterday. However they have the leader with Adriano Malori. I do not understand”, Styby said. Maybe tomorrow the Etixx-Quick Step Team will get some help from BMC as Van Avermaet took over the lead today.
“Congratulations to Greg because he really did a very strong sprint.”
