The fourth and fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse has been won respectively by Michael Matthews and Thibaut Pinot. The last one also is the new leader. Styby played no significant role. “But it will be ok. I do not worry.”
“Wednesday was a very long day. We left our hotel at 8 am and came back at 8 pm with 240 kilometers and 4.200 altitude meters in the legs. Especially the last climb of the day was hard. A little nightmare.”
However the riders had taken precautions. “Our smallest gear was 39x32. But at some moments that was even too hard. I am still struggling, but I believe it will get better and better.”
“I was also very happy with the seventh place from Jan Hirt, a compatriot of mine. During the stage I said to him: if you want to show how good you are, show them today, you can do it. And he did it. I hope he can be the next Czech rider in the WorldTour peloton.
“Today we have a stage for sprinters, so we will try to win this one.”
