Alexander Kristoff has won the seventh stage in the Tour de Suisse. Styby and his team Etixx-Quick Step did everything to lead Mark Cavendish to a sprint victory, but didn’t succeed. “The finals are always very dangerous here.”
“The start of the stage was very fast and after 20 kilometers four riders were able to ride away. Our world champion Michal Kwiatkowski was one of them. Tinkoff-Saxo started to pull directly and never gave them more than five minutes ahead.”
It looked good for Kwiatkowski for a long time. “I thought he could win, but the circuit didn’t play in his card with many downhill’s, where the peloton goes faster. But he did a great job, we caught him with only 400 meters to go.”
“Me and my teammates tried to help Cavendish, but the final was again very dangerous. I think there should be more regulation on such a finish. For me personally I felt a little bit better again, so that’s a good sign.”
