Tomorrow the Czech Cycling Tour will start. With Styby. “It’s been over a year since I’ve raced home. My last race here was the national championship last year. So yes, I’m looking forward to start.”
The selection of Etixx-Quick Step contains Iljo Keisse, Pieter Serry, Lukasz Wisniowski, Petr Vakoc and stagiairs Rodrigo Contreras and Franando Gavira. “Hopefully we can win the team time trial on the first day. That would be great.”
“With Vakoc we also have a man who can go for the overall classification. He must be our captain. He is also the current champion of the Czech Republic. About myself, I’m not so sure: I’m not feeling fresh. Hopefully it goes each day a little better.”
After the Tour Zdenek rode five criteriums and he won three of them. “I had to travel a lot and didn’t have a lot of rest. And when I was home, it was hard to sleep with my son Lewis. I wake up three times a night for him :-)”
And what after the Czech Cycling Tour? “Then I go on training camp in Livigno, I ride the Tour of Britain and the world championship in Richmond.”
