Peter Sagan has won the fourth stage in the Tour of California. It’s the second stage win for the world champion, after winning the first stage. Styby and his team controlled the stage for his leader Julian Alaphilippe.
“It was very hard today again”, Zdenek says. “It took until kilometer 65 for the breakaway to ride away. We did a really good job, because we didn’t want anybody dangerous for the general classification to ride away. That worked out perfectly.”
After that Etixx-Quick Step still controlled the race. “But we got help from the riders of Tinkoff at that point. In the final we brought Julian in a good position to the last climb and after that my work was done.” Styby eventually crossed the line as 122nd.
“I felt a little bit better today than the days before. It’s a great training for me here to get in shape for the coming races. Again tomorrow, because we have a stage with altitude up to 2.600 meters. So it will be another hard and long day.”
