Peloton comes too late

After the second stage Peter Sagan also has won the third stage in the Tour de Suisse. The world champion was the fastest in a rainy stage. Styby finished 44th.

“The weather was again very bizarre. There were minimum temperatures of 10 degrees and maximum 22 degrees. We knew it could be a good stage for me on paper and so I would test my shape. But there was a strong breakaway which was really difficult to chase down.”

But once the local laps came everything was back together. “It started to rain again in the last and in the downhill I lost too many positions. I couldn’t see anything so I started the climb maybe around 30th position.”

“On the climb I felt pretty good if I compare it to the previous races. But I was too far back. After the climb we had to chase Peter Sagan, Michael Albasini and Silvan Dillier. We didn’t get a lot of help so it was only Petr Vakoc and me. And we came too late.”

Richeze won the sprint of the peloton 3 seconds behind the winner. “Max could have won the stage. We did all we could. And Sagan is really doing impressive stuff. Congrats to him again. Tomorrow we try again.”
