Vuelta opens with 5th place for Styby and his team
Etixx-Quick Step has become fifth in the opening team time trial of the Vuelta a Espana. The victory went to Team Sky. “Our goal was to win, but we gave it all and finished fifth. Tomorrow we try again.”
“My feeling the last couple of days wasn’t that good”, Styby says. “Maybe because of the long flights after Rio? I’m not sure. But today the feeling was okay and I gave it all, just like the rest of the team.”
After 24 of the almost 28 kilometers Zdenek had to let go his team. “I had to jump out of the boat. We finished 5th and it was absolutely our maximum. We rode very good, without any mistakes and everybody was completely empty after the finish.”
