Fernando Gaviria has won Paris-Tours. The Colombian of Etixx-Quick Step was the man for the sprint at the team of Styby, however, Gaviria didn’t win by sprinting, but with an attack in the last kilometer. “It was phenomenal.”
“It was a fast race from the beginning. However, some riders got away and it was our job to get them back on time. Along with Cofidis and FDJ, who also wanted a bunch sprint, we had everything under control quickly.”
In the final the peloton came back. “There were some attacks, but they all failed and it would be a sprint. But Fernando had a stroke of genius in the last 600 meters and finished it off. Phenomenal! Really amazing.”
“For me it was a good race. In total it was 260 kilometers, so it was the perfect preparation for the world championship in Qatar. Tomorrow I will ride Putte-Kapellen and on Wednesday I will fly to Qatar.”
