Styby did his winter preparation with the team at three training camps held in Spain. The first one in Denia and the other two in Calpé. In the mean time he stayed in Belgium, Mallorca and his home town Stříbro.
„I am satisfied with my preparation, althougt Spain wasn‘t as sunny as usually now in January. We even had snow on the beach for few days, but it was ok at the end, I did my training accordint to the schedule.“ summed Styby
68th edition of the race Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana will be the entering into this year‘s road struggles for Zdenek. And it starts pretty sharply with the team time trial. Zdenek is looking forward to it, although he doesn’t see it as an ideal start of the racing for him. He himselves will concentrate on the second stage, which should fit him. Quick-Step floors team is bringing a strong team, with Dan Martin for the heavy hilly stage, but without full-blooded sprinter, therefore the leadership will be decided day after day depending on the situation.
"The team time trial is our strong side, so we will certainly target for some good result. Myself I like it, but for the start, I would like to see a rather classical stage. For me, it could be the next day. The two of the stages for sprinters are opened, it will mainly depend on tomorrow. We went through the route today, it is very technical and but with two sprint stages is clearly not, we‘ll see. it depends mainly on how we can do it tomorrow. the route we have now passed, it is very technical and challenging. At this moment I take the race as a start and a good training for the other races in the coming weeks." said Styby.
