Yves Lampaert has won Dwars door Vlaanderen. The rider from Quick Step Floors attacked in the final kilometers and won by a handful of seconds. Philippe Gilbert finished second, so Quick Step Floors rode a perfect race. “I’m very happy for Yves”, says our favorite, which was 21st.
“Yves is a person who always works very hard for the team. Today he got his chance and he could make it to the finish. That gives me a great feeling. I’m very happy for him. It gives the team even more moral.”
Zdenek himself also drove a good race and together with teammate Niki Terpstra he attacked on the Paterberg. He jumped to the group where Lampaert en Gilbert espaced from together with Alexey Lutsenko and Luke Durbridge. And so they were riding for fifth place.
“But the sprint for the fifth place was pretty tricky. And I really didn’t want to go back into the fences. I am satisfied with my race because I have spent the past week training hard in Mallorca. Friday we ride the E3 Prijs in Harelbeke. I hope we can do it as good as today.”
