The Tour of Switzerland kicked off with an individual time trial in Lugano today. Fabian Cancellara clocked the fastest time, and was 49 seconds ahead of our champion.
This race marks Zdenek's debut in the UCI World Tour. The nine-day tour is used by many riders as a final preparation for the Tour de France, but not in Styby's case.
“It was a tough test,” he said after the stage. “I still have a lot to learn, but that's why I'm here.”
Styby manged to do quite well. He was 80th in the field of 160 riders. Tomorrow is the first mass-start stage, which finishes on Crans-Montana. That's right, a tough mountain stage already.
