The second stage of the Tour of Switzerland took the riders to the highest point of the tour on the Crans-Montana. Styby's maximum speed for the stage was 98.7 kph, but that wasn't enough for the stage victory.
“It was an amazing experience,” Zdenek said. “The Nufenpass was at the beginning of the stage. Despite the 22 km distance, it went pretty well. I enjoyed the descent more. It was very different than in other races. Everyone stayed in their position. And I reached a speed of 98.7 kph!”
And then came the final climb. “I tried to get in a good position, but it was really hard for me. Actually, I should maintained my own pace on the climb. I still have a lot to learn, but I don't mind. I still really like it.”
Styby lost a bit more than seven minutes and finished in 57th. The stage was won by Juan Mauricio Soler, who rode away from Damiano Cunego and Fränk Schleck on the final climb. Soler also takes over the general classification lead.
