So far the Tour of Belgium has not gone the way Omega Pharma-Quick Step had hoped. The team was again unable put a rider on the podium in the second stage. Zdenek crossed the line in 48th and the stage win went to André Greipel again.
Five riders where in the early break during between Lochristi and Knokke-Heist. Styby, his teammates and the Lotto-Belisol worked hard to reel them back in deep in the finale. Ramon Sinkeldam’s desperate attempt to win the stage was foiled just two kilometers from the finish.
The stage finished in another sprint and Gripel was again the fastest. Danilo Napolitano was second, ahead of Jacopo Guarnieri. Tomorrow will be another flat stage, followed by an individual time trial and a stage through the Ardennes will close out the weekend.
