Zdenek won the silver medal again on the World championship. In Hoogerheide, the Netherlands, he finished second after Niels Albert. The Belgian rode away in the second lap and was too strong. Sven Nys was third.
Styby took a good start, as he turned into the field in sixth place. Dutchman Thijs Al rode a fast lap, but everyone was able to follow. In the second lap, Albert attacked.
With a little help from Nys Albert took ten meters. Styby, who was still in sixth position, tried to close the gap to Albert a lap later, but it was too big.
Our champion came close, but the gap was two seconds too big. Albert rode solo to his first rainbow jersey, Styby became second and took his second silver medal. Nys was third.
