Not enough wind in the Eneco Tour

Zdenek had become 25th today in the first stage of the Eneco Tour. Which took the riders from Koksijde to Ardooie over a distance of 175 kilometers. Mark Renshaw proved to be the best and won with a few seconds ahead of the peloton.

“Immediately after the start three riders rode away”, Styby begins his story. “We then drove a strady pace in the peloton. Once we tried with our team Omega Pharma-Quick Step to put the peloton on the side, but there was just not enough wind to force anything.”

In the final the three riders were caught. “It was a bit nervous in the peloton because of the local laps in Ardooie. We managed to be in front, but it was very difficult to organize. Hopefully tomorrow it will be better in the stage to Vorst near Brussels.”

The Eneco Tour is also the last straight line to the Tour of Spain. “That’s right. After the Tour of Poland I had a recovery week. I spent a few days in the Czech Republic and the last days in Belgium. That was twelve weeks ago! After this Eneco Tour I look forward to the Vuelta.”
