Fifth in Paris-Nice

Styby has become fifth in the fourth stage of Paris-Nice. Two riders were able to beat the peloton. Tom-Jelte Slagter won the stage, while Geraint Thomas, who finished second, captured the leaders jersey.

“After three flat stages this was something heavier. Although the start was very quiet and easy. The first 100 kilometers there was no wind, but the final was again very fast. There was a climb of three kilometers with some parts of 20%. The finish wasn’t on the top, but 10 kilometers further.”

“I was able to stay in contact with the first group, until Slagter and Thomas attacked on the top. They didn’t get a big gap, but it was enough to stay in front. I tried to attack three times and catch them with some small group, but we didn’t make it. I was third in the sprint of the group.”

In the general classification Zdenek is now 8th with nineteen seconds behind the new leader. “I want to thank Tom Boonen to help me in the last 50 kilometers today. I was able to save some power thanks to him. My form is not bad, so we will see where it will bring me the next couple of days.”
