The Tour de Suisse ended today with an individual time trial in Bern. Tom Dumoulin won, while Simon Spilak took the overall victory. Styby was 38th in the time trial and 83th in the overall classification. “To be honest: I expected more from this Tour de Suisse.”
“Normally, these stages should suit me well, but I never found a good rhythm in the legs. I do not think it’s my condition, because the tests and feelings that I had before the start of the tour were good. Maybe I just need some more races.”
Or is it something else? “Maybe it’s the little stress I have because Ine and I now expact our baby every day. That’s also why I do not know if I will defend my title at the national championship next week.”
“The Tour de France? I think we will hear one of the next few days if I’m selected or not. It’s one of my cycling dreams to start there. So I hope it can be already this year. It would be a big honor for me to be there in Utrecht for my first Tour. It also would be my third grand tour.”
Wednesday Styby will start in Halle-Ingooigem. Maybe.
