Zdenek finished 28th in the Clasica San Sebastian. Our favorite showed himself during the race and went in the attack with a small group. Unfortunately without success. Bauke Mollema had more success and won the classic after a solo of 10 kilometers.
“I had a pretty good feeling before the race. I did really good trainings at Mallorca, so I was confident for the Clasica. On the long climbs I even could stay with the better climbers. But in the final I made a mistake.”
Zdenek had to brake and lost some places. “I was just moving up to the front when I suddenly I had to brake. I almost stood still and therefore lost some important places. After that I had no time to move anymore so I started the last climb too far from the best riders.”
“The new final is really hard. I really like this kind of classics, it’s always a big challenge for me. I am happy the shape is good and I’m looking forward to the Olympics in Rio next weekend and after that I will ride the Vuelta.”
