I enjoyed racing in Serbia

I really enjoyed participating in the Tour of Serbia stage race with my Telenet-Fidea team last week. My health problems are behind me now and it was great to pin on a race number and be back out on the road racing my bike.

I felt a lot better than I thought I would. The race consisted of six stages. The first few days were really hot with temperatures reaching 46 degrees in the sun. But I was able to cope with it and ride well, along with the rest of the team. I finished in 11th place during a mountain stage which was won by my teammate Kevin Pauwels. Friday was another hard day with 2600 meters of climbing. I managed to finish 14th that day by winning a sprint from a group of 9 riders.

I mainly used the race as training after recovering from the health problem I recently struggled with. The most important thing about the race for me was that I was able to finish without any problems.

I'm back training now and looking for other races to ride. I thought about doing the Czech road championships, but have decided against it. Instead I'll do some more training and prepare myself for the Czech Tour.
